Last week, we had the opportunity to attend an insightful seminar by Dr. Parthiban, Professor, Department of Agroforestry at the Forest College and Research Station, Mettupalayam. The session, titled "Trees that Yield Money and Profit from Arboriculture," was an eye-opener into the world of lesser-known yet highly profitable tree species in Tamil Nadu.

Dr. Parthiban began by introducing tree species that many of us might not have heard of, such as TV TV, Indian Almond, and Velvel. It was fascinating to learn how these trees, often overlooked, hold immense potential for generating profit through proper cultivation and management. He shared detailed insights into the unique properties of each species and how they can thrive in Tamil Nadu’s climate, offering sustainable income opportunities for farmers and landowners.

A key highlight of the seminar was his discussion on the cultivation of wood species specifically for logs and plywood production.
